What do men wear at Oktoberfest?

For men, the lederhosen are an absolute must. Traditionally made from durable wild buck leather — soft yet robust deer or goat leather — they are built to last. Sometimes goat suede or cowhide is also used. The quality makes all the difference: the finer the leather, the more beautifully the lederhosen age, developing a unique patina over time.

They’re typically paired with a classic traditional shirt, Haferl shoes, and depending on the weather, a janker (traditional jacket) or a vest.

How to get here From Marienplatz to Oktoberfest

From BEYOND by Geisel at Marienplatz, the Oktoberfest grounds at Theresienwiese are easy to reach. Simply take the U4 or U5 subway line (towards Laimer Platz / Westendstraße) for just two stops to the Theresienwiese station — the ride takes only about 5 minutes. Alternatively, you can enjoy a leisurely 20–25 minute walk through the Old Town and the Ludwigsvorstadt district, soaking up the special Oktoberfest atmosphere along the way.
